Get fit and Say G’day to Solomon Islands!

The Australian High Commission is preparing to say G’day to Solomon Islands by holding their first ever fun run event.

The inaugural ‘G’day Solomon Islands Fun Run’ will be held on Saturday 23rd of November starting at the Honiara art Gallery grounds.

‘G’day’ is a friendly term used in Australia meaning ‘hello!’

Acting Australian High Commissioner Dr Dave Peebles says he can’t wait for the event.

“This is a great chance for the community to get together for a free activity, have fun and get some exercise.”

The theme of the event will be, ‘Iumi Stap Helti’, promoting the importance of fresh food, healthy lifestyles and physical activity.

“It is so important for all of us to keep fit and healthy,” Dr Peebles says. “And always more fun to keep healthy together.”

“We really want to organise an event that everyone can participate in, young or old, whether they’re fit or not. It’s about getting involved and getting healthy that’s more important than winning.”

“I’m even looking forward to getting my running shoes on myself!”

The event will offer free registration, great prizes, a 3km and 5km run as well as entertainment and a free healthy breakfast at the end of the run.

Register as an individual, or get together with your workmates, friends or a sports group to register your team for the race.

More information on the event including registration details, grand prizes and the fun run route will be released in coming weeks.
