ANOTHER HUGE CROWD AT G’DAY SOLOMONS FUN RUN

The annual G’day Solomon Islands Fun Run attracted another huge crowd yesterday, with more than three thousand people taking part in the event.

Acting Australian High Commissioner Dave Peebles said the event is a great opportunity for the Australian High Commission to engage with the local Honiara community and also promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

“The G’day Solomon Islands Fun Run is a great way for people of all ages to have some fun and keep fit and healthy.”

“We’re really excited by the support the Fun Run has received from the community. It was fantastic to see so many people taking part again this year.”

The morning started with an aerobics warm-up before participants completed a 5km run or 3km walk.

Solo Icon winner, Roselyn Delma and other competition finalists provided entertainment for the huge crowd who were also treated to a free, healthy breakfast.

There were also loads of prizes to be won including more than 20 major prizes which were awarded to lucky participants whose names were pulled out of a basket.

Many of the Fun Run participants also took the opportunity to receive their measles vaccination from the satellite clinic at the Art Gallery grounds.

The Australian High Commission congratulates everyone who took part in this year’s G’day Solomon Islands Fun Run and would like to thank everyone who made the event so successful.

The Fun Run was sponsored by Solrice, Breakwater, BOC Gases, Island Enterprise, Szetu Enterprises, Pasifiki Services, Tongs Corporation, Be Mobile/Vodafone, Heritage Park Hotel, Medana Hotel, Sullivans and Nambawan Meat, Mermaid, BSP, Kokonut Pacific, Mambo Juice, South Pacific Oil, Synergies, Premiere Real estate, The Marketing Haus, ANZ, Extreme Adventures, DJ Graphics, Lime Lounge, SolTuna, The Ofis, Bulk Shop and Oz Fresh.
